What We Do

Worship Gatherings

Worship is what we give to God. It is the things we do, the songs we sing, the love we give, the attitudes of our heart that say thanks to God and honour him as worthy of our lives. Every week on a Sunday we meet at Mitcham Scout Hall at 10am for a worship gathering. It is all about connecting with God, listening to him and following what he wants to do among us. In Worship gatherings we will:

Sing acoustic/pop/folk songs that speak truth and love to God.

Use art to respond to God in creative ways.

Have morning tea and catch up.

Hear stories about what God is doing in people's lives.

Learn about the ways of God, who he is and how to live out his will in our everyday lives from a biblical perspective.

Pray for each other - in response to the teaching and in response to what God is saying to us.

We also minister to each other as directed and empowered by the Holy Spirit.

Children over the age of 2 years have their own programs next door where they worship, play and learn together.

One the fourth Sunday of the Month, we have the kids in with us for Family Worship. We worship together, have communion and then explore "church outside the walls" and engage with the community through prayer walking, going on "treasure hunts" (evangelism), ot serve someone who needs help.

Dust

Dust groups are a way that we intentionally facilitate discipleship. We gather together in smaller groups with the goal of becoming more like Jesus. Dust groups involve about 4-7 people who meet on someone's house at a time arranged together. In these groups, we will:

Scripture - we will discuss a few chapters of the bible that will have been set as "homework" from the previous meeting. We will discuss what the reading has taught us about Jesus and what God may have spoken to us each through the reading.

Story sharing - we will give opportunity for people to tell the group about how they met Jesus and what he means to them today. This will equip us to be able to have conversation about Jesus with those who haven't met him yet.

Kingdom stories - we love to hear of how people are interacting with others through conversation and prayer. Hearing and sharing stories of how God is using us and that God is doing some good things around us increases our faith.

Prayer training - to follow Jesus and do what he does is to pray for the sick (physical, social, emotional ...). We learn better by practice, not theory so in DUST groups, we pray for each other and learn how to hear God's voice.

Making Disciples - It is our intention that DUST groups are the main way that we invite people to come and learn how to be a follower of Jesus. To learn about him and do what he does.

Mission

We are a Christian community who seek to embrace the lost, hurting, poor, lonely, sick and all those we are connected to, with the love of God. Our mission is to bring the Kingdom of God to the world we live in. Enabled by the Holy Spirit, we seek to bring Jesus into our workplaces, schools, relationships and the places we spend our lives at (e.g. the supermarket). We serve by helping with practical needs such as meals and backyard blitzes, and also tend to emotional and spiritual needs by offering friendship, time and the love of God through ords of comfort, encouragement an words of knowledge from God.

We seek to bring the Kingdom to this world through healing, deliverance, words of knowledge and signs and wonders. We seek global justice. We stand up for tthose who cannot stand themselves. We have sent several familes and individuals to places such as Cambodia, West Papua and India to work to bring God's love to people in need.

Restore

God desires us to be free from all pain and to be complete human beings. Our 'restore' ministry faciliates inner healing through prayer. Our method facliates a diaolgue with Jesus that allow HIm to come and bring freedom to people's lives and resore them to who they were created to be.

Our 'restore' team are trained and experienced and love to see people set free. It is an informal and gentle process of enagingwith the Holy Spirit, allowing Him to reveal sources of pain and restraint in a person's life, and asking Jesus to come and set them free.
